In the hustle and bustle of today's exciting, yet sometimes stress-filled world, it is easy to feel disconnected from our internal (mental, spiritual and physical) health. A traumatic event, a stressful job, life situation, or relationship can all add to a feeling of distance from a centered and purposeful existence, as well as an unconscious negative cycling of thoughts. If allowed to continue, these thoughts and feelings of distance can ultimately affect our health, our levels of energy and our overall happiness. I can help you with that.
The Connection Between Emotions and Mental & Physical Health
Recent research by scientists at Ohio State University, lead by Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, MD, have found the long suspected link between emotions and health. They have identified the inflammatory agent that responds to negative thoughts and emotions, which impacts physical health. They have also found that patients with negative thoughts have a much lower success rate in battling serious physical and mental illness.
Research also shows that negative, anxious and compulsive thoughts can get stuck in our brains, continuing to cycle, causing more and more distress in our minds and creating stress, as well as illness, in our bodies. These thoughts can manifest as depression, anxiety, panic, PTSD and addictions, in addition to generally undermining self esteem, and contributing to ill health. Interrupting those thoughts and creating new positive messaging has been shown to develop new neuronal pathways in the brain, contributing to better mental and physical health.
Guided Imagery, Mindfulness & Hypnosis
Guided imagery, mindfulness and hypnosis all have been found to be effective tools in permanently creating new thought patterns, successfully contributing to calmer, healthier brains and bodies. Not only are new neuronal pathways developed, but the balance of important neurotransmitters such as serotonin and dopamine, which assist in the regulation of mood, pain, addiction and eating disorders, is also positively impacted.
Conditions found to be positively impacted by guided imagery, mindfulness & hypnosis:
Anxiety Panic
Trauma Depression
Obsessive compulsive disorder Self esteem
Pain and headache reduction Urges for overeating and drug use
